Organisational Change Management Maturity Model
The CMI in partnership with Carbon Group Change Consulting are developing an Organisational Change Management maturity model, to enable us to assess the overall capability of the organisation for managing change.

Change management and current industry practice with regard to sustainability
Keith Robinson from the National Centre for Sustainability at Swinburne University of Technology is teaching, at Graduate Certificate level, in the implementation of sustainability initiatives into organisations.

The relationship between Project Managers and Change Managers
The University of Technology, Sydney is undertaking research to understand the relationship between Project Managers and Change Managers. They both perform vital roles in reaching organisational objectives, but it is not always clear what the relationship between these roles is, or should be.

Jo Grubb - was Chapter Lead, has taken leave from the committee for now. Vina Wilson was our event coordinator, and is taking leave from the committee to complete some study. Many thanks to both Jo and Vina for all their hard efforts over the past year.
New Chapter Lead is Jan Marshall. Jan is one of our inaugural Queensland chapter committee members and has been active since the start in several positions. Looking after our events is Donna Russell. Karla Hannant, who will look after our local membership program. Neil Drury looks after our finances, Raegan Cairney is our Mastermind convener, and Brett Creedon seeks out and looks after our Sponsors. Momo Kromah holds it all together, filling the gaps where we need it most, and especially our accreditation enquiries. We are keen for new people to join - there are always things to do.

9 August 2011,"The Neuroscience of Change" - Speaker event. This was an exciting frontier science event presented by Sue Langley from Emotional Intelligence World Wide. 13 July 2011, CMI South Australia - Launch event. This was the first event put on by the SA chapter and it was extremely well attended. 2011 Events
Our events are all centred around conversation, networking and expanding our skills and knowledge. Throughout 2011 we have explored topics including culture, benefit realisation, emotional change, overcoming the challenges involved in leading change and we hosted a collaborative networking event where people shared their stories and approaches.

15 September 2011, Interactive Event: Aligning Culture with Sally-Anne Cotton, Founder of Executive Alchemist, who kindly shared models, methods, tools, and activities that leverage cultural and stakeholder alignment in support of strategic change initiatives. 11 August 2011 - Speaker Event: Realising the Benefits. Our panel of leading Change Management practitioners discussed the topic of 'benefit realisation'. This is a key challenge for us all as we are asked to demonstrate the benefits of the change and it's effective management. This event was proudly sponsored by Grant Thornton
16 June 2011 - Speaker Event: Change Without Pain. Andrew Marty, Managing Director of SACS Consulting, explored key change questions and suggested practical, evidence based solutions to help us succeed in the human aspects of change based on latest research and thinking. He explored why people resist, how to encourage people to embrace change, how to get a change back on track when its gone off the rails, embedding change and avoiding collateral damage from our change efforts.
28 April 2011 - Networking Event: Collaborative Consumption. 'Collaborative Consumption...Share Generously, Sponge Shamelessly' was the topic of the CMI Victoria April networking event. We were able to learn from others insights and stories, share and reflect on our experiences, what worked, what didn't and explore key topic(s) of interest. 17 march 2011 - Speaker event: Getting to the Heart of Change. Our guest speaker, Jeremy Scrivens, The Emotional Economy, introduced Appreciative Inquiry as the positive alternative to engaging people from the heart in taking the change journey. This event was proudly sponsored by Chandler MacLeod.
Coming soon...Our Christmas networking event...and our final event for 2011.
This exciting event will be on 24 November at 5.45pm at Grant Thornton's offices, Level 2, 215 Spring Street in Melbourne. Using positive psychology techniques we will be creating a "positive networking' event that is centred on giving and receiving. Come along and experience this new approach to networking and meet other change professionals. There'll be plenty of Christmas sparkle, music, great food and drinks to say thanks for being a part of the local chapter. CMI AGM
The 2011 CMI AGM will take place during the 2011 Australia Conference, this is a annual requirement of the CMI association and enables us to present Special resolutions, year-end financial information, strategy and hold the CMI committee/Board Elections
The AGM will take place at 5pm Thursday 25th August, at Sheraton on the Park, 161 Elizabeth Street, Sydney, NSW 2000
SPECIAL RESOLUTION
The CMI is putting forward a Special Resolution at the AGM to amend its Association Rules. The main reasons for this are as follows:
1) to update its Consititution in alignment with the introduction of the Incorporated Association Act 2009 and Incorporated Association Regulation 2010
2) to add a provision for use of electronic voting at future Committee member elections
3) to provide tighter governance around the operation of CMI Chapters

The Change Management Institute (CMI) will be hosting its annual committee member election as part of the 2011 annual general meeting (AGM).

Committee Member Election Process
1. Nominations of candidates for election as office-bearers of the association:
(a) must be made in writing, signed by two members of the association and accompanied by the written consent of the candidate (click here for the form)
(b) Nominations must be delivered to CMI at least 7 days in advance of the AGM. This can be done via the CMI website or directly via CMIinfo@change-management-institute.com
2. If insufficient nominations are received to fill all vacancies on the committee, the candidates nominated are taken to be elected and further nominations are to be received at the annual general meeting.
3. If insufficient further nominations are received, any vacant positions remaining on the committee are taken to be casual vacancies.
4. If the number of nominations received is equal to the number of vacancies to be filled, the persons nominated are taken to be elected.
5. If the number of nominations received exceeds the number of vacancies to be filled, a ballot is to be held at the AGM.
Frequently Asked Questions
1. Do I need to be present at the AGM to be elected?
No. A candidate for office need not be present at the Election, but he/she must accept their nomination either in person at a regular CMI Committee Meeting or in writing.
2. Do I need to be present at the election to vote?
Yes. Under the CMI Association Rules votes must be given in person (voting by proxy is not permitted).
Note: At this AGM we intent to propose a resolution for online voting for future years to accommodate the needs of interstate and overseas members.
3. Do I need to be a CMI member to vote?
Yes. Only CMI members are eligible to vote.
4. Can I be nominated for more than one office?
Yes. Members can be nominated for multiple offices. However, once elected to an office, their name shall be removed from consideration for any subsequent office.
5. How will officers be elected?
Officers shall be elected by a majority of voting CMI members present at the election meeting. Each member is entitled to one vote only. In the case of an equality of votes, the chairperson of the AGM is entitled to exercise a second or casting vote.
6. What does each job entail, and how much time do you need to spend?
A job description for the roles can be found here. This is a volunteer position and does mean that you need to be prepared to manage the extra work that this will mean on top of your normal workload. Each job has an estimate of the amount of time required for each role.
