The Competency Workshop held on 26 June was a great success! Even an early start on a wet Saturday morning couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of our experts and participants. Helped along with a coffee or two the discussion soon took off and so too the time. Most groups were so engrossed in their topic they were surprised to hear the 15 minute warning signal the conclusion of their subject round. Many participants commented that they had learned a lot from both the experts and other participants and were sorry that the workshop had come to an end. Thanks to all those who participated and a special thank you to Helen Campbell who facilitated and our wonderful experts who generously gave their time and knowledge: Catherine Smithson, James Carlopio, Michael Hollingworth, Dr Tom Schwarz, Prue Robson, Fran Leys and Paul Hayman.

CMI is launching a mentoring program as part of its membership.
This program will support the building of relationships between experienced change management professionals and members who are seeking opportunities for career and professional development.
We have a number of people that have already offered to participate as mentors, however with the launch of membership we are looking for further volunteers across Australia. We are therefore keen to hear from experienced members who are willing to participate as Mentors.
As a mentor you will benefit through:
- Further developing mentoring skills including; providing feedback, communication and interpersonal skills
- Personal and professional satisfaction
- Contributing to the profession and CMI in particular
- Staying in touch with emerging issues relevant to less experienced change management practitioners.
The program will run over a 12 month period, commencing with a kick-off session including an overview of the program, sharing some tools and an opportunity for networking. Mentors and participants will determine the format of the ongoing relationship, usually meeting about once a month.
The mentoring will be launched through an interesting 'Speed Dating' activity in October. If you would like to be a mentor, please let us know. Send us a brief response to cmiinfo@change-management-institute.com by 31 August 2009

The Victorian Chapter had a very successful launch in May this year, with over 60 attendees at a lively session in the city. There was real interest in the network around some major topics:
After the event, the Executive met a couple of times to discuss where the focus for the Chapter would be for the remainder of the year, and a few themes emerged:
The next networking event on Thursday 15th July will cover a presentation on "The Art of Story Telling in Change" by Jeremy Nichols, Partner Mettle Group and a discussion on Career Paths In Change. Come and meet your industry peers, discuss the local and wider Australian Change market and make new friends.
A further 5 network events have been scheduled for the remainder of the year. Please pencil in the dates for future networking events:
