Project Delivery, Uncertainty and Neuroscience (Buckinghamshire, UK)
Organisations spend millions on transformation programmes and even if they are on time and to budget many are still not satisfied with the results. In this session Carole Osterweil founder of Visible Dynamics will help us consider what needs to change to increase success rates. She will look at the evidence from numerous studies that are coming to the same conclusion:
“A better understanding and management of social dynamics (why people behave as they do) provides the greatest opportunity for improving project delivery”
Carole argues that advances in understanding about how the brain works and in particular, how we respond to uncertainty casts the challenges in a very different light.
In this session Carole will:
- Give you a flavour of what is known about how the brain works
- Explore how you can use this knowledge to reduce uncertainty and complexity and to increase success rates
Her aim is to encourage you to reflect on your own situation and experiences and to consider the implications - for you, your projects and your profession.
About our Speaker
Carole Osterweil is the founder of Visible Dynamics. She works with project directors, sponsors and teams to renew their grip on delivery whilst decreasing stress.
With expertise from the emerging discipline of neuroscience, Carole empowers her clients to understand how the human brain works, how this creates uncertainty and how we can use this knowledge to enable, rather than disable, individual and organisational change. She has recently written Project Delivery, Uncertainty and Neuroscience – a Leader’s Guide.
An MBA trained in psychotherapy, Carole has led complex change and transformation programmes in the NHS and corporate sectors. She is one of a handful of coaches working with Cranfield University, The Project Academy, and PA Consulting to support the UK government’s drive to increase its senior change, project and programme management capability.
