Convergence Conference, Melbourne Australia by Simon Corcoran
The annual Convergence Conference for change practitioners was held in Melbourne in April.
Around 100 people attended the conference with participants from most states of Australia and New Zealand.
Some significant themes and discussion points emerged from two days of intense collaboration. For example we discussed better framing of the sponsor relationship, and how to frame good coaching questions to ensure that expectations were effectively driven.
Similarly, we examined the role of the Strategic Advisor and how best to support C-suite leaders on strategic considerations and change intelligence. We were encouraged to focus on Irrefutable Truths during the change process, to help clarify internal and external communications and to move beyond compliance to a meaningful internalisation of the reason for change.
Delegates were reminded of the value of pre-testing all communication messages to ensure that messages are received in the best possible light, and we examined the need to place user experience at the heart of workplace design through some fascinating case studies at Australia Post, who are using AI and Alexa to search and store organisational data. Finally, the workshops talked to the need for high quality data as a tool when influencing leaders to support organisational changes.
